Mick & Viola Hunt - Leicester - 2006 onwards

Mick and I have now spent 6 holiday periods in the Spanish villa. The first one was the year we retired, when we drove over and spent 6 weeks there so really got to know the area. The beach is beautiful, miles of golden sand and completely unspoilt. We often do the long walk into Santa Pola along the beach road, catching the bus back at the end of the day.

Alicante is a magnificent city: very stylish by the marina, quirky and exciting up in the tapas bars under the castle. Climb high for the best tapas in these ancient barras, you won't be disappointed!

The villa is very well equipped and opposite a lovely pool area, particularly good after a long day trekking. Mick likes to lounge on the roof; too hot for me! I enjoy the more gentle, shaded area of the downstairs patio. A barbecue there in the evening of freshly caught, local fish and a bottle of good wine form the cava up the road rounds the day off well. Of course, there is still time to visit one of the numerous local bars!
